Fortitude Writers

Fortitude is such an amazing quality in a person because it chooses to stay. When others can, will, and seemingly should leave, fortitude belongs to the one who remains. It's not just learning to do hard things, it's choosing to do hard things when an easier but lesser option is available.
It is strength under fire and courage over fear. It means that for sure the situation is hard but that on the flip side, you have held on to hope. After all, as Emily Dickinson says,
“Hope” is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -
And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard -
And sore must be the storm -
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm -
I’ve heard it in the chillest land -
And on the strangest Sea -
Yet - never - in Extremity,
It asked a crumb - of me.
